From November 10-14, 2008, 44 decision makers and analysts from 24 countries outside the United States (24 Europeans, 17 Asians, 3 from the Americas and Australasia) met with 13 of their US counterparts in Salzburg, Austria, from November 10 to 14, 2008, to discuss The United States in the World: New Strategies of Engagement. The resulting 4 days of dialogue and debate confirmed that the new administrations long-term objectives are peace, stability and prosperity both at home and abroad, and that the avowed aim of its foreign policy should be to build and maintain a world economic and political order based on mutual openness, international cooperation, and observance of agreed rules. This video serves as a record, in part, of that meeting, and of the views of the assembled experts.

Conference organized by the Embassy of Switzerland, together with the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS), on current efforts in Switzerland and the United States to develop a "whole of government" approach to global development policy. This approach would streamline interagency efforts and coordinate strategies among various organizations and departments to create a more efficient structure for global development aid. Interest in this approach has grown following a successful "3C Conference" in Geneva last March, where participants defined a roadmap for a more Coherent, Coordinated and Complementary (3C) global development policy. The December follow-up conference brought together experts from the Swiss government, the US Department of State, the US Department of Defense, USAID, Congress, NATO, OECD, the World Bank, the UN, non-governmental organizations, and the private sector to discuss progress and to share strategies for a more integrated and streamlined structure for global development aid.
